August 2nd, 2018 Update: Extreme Fire Hazard Travel and Activity Restrictions
Leavenworth visitors and residents:
Campfires are no longer permitted in Chelan County Fire District 3's jurisdiction (including the City of Leavenworth). The restriction includes any wood-burning outdoor fire-pit, chiminea, or in-ground campfire ring. If it burns wood, it is no longer allowed.
No outdoor fires and/or outdoor open flame devices are allowed within the boundaries of Chelan County Fire District #3, as of 08/02/2018, except the following:
- Commercially made listed/labeled barbeque devices located and used at a residence; and (2) stoves or fireplace fires completely contained within a residence.
- Portable propane fire places are allowed within Chelan County Fire District #3 jurisdiction.
- Use of charcoal briquettes is allowed within Chelan County Fire District #3 with the following conditions. Commercially made listed/labeled barbeque devices located and used at a residence on a non-combustible surface is permissible. Discarding of hot briquettes after use shall be in a metal container and stirred with water to assure extinguishment.
OUTDOOR BURNING IS NOW CLOSED
Outdoor debris burning is prohibited from June 1st indefinitely until weather conditions change and the fire season is safely behind us. The expected reopening of debris burning is expected to be in mid-fall.
